Sunshine, Fairytales, and Sleep

Hello everyone!!
I thought I'd update you guys on how my summer break is going so far. It's been three weeks since the semester has ended. I felt an enormous amount of relief when I finished my last final exam and then a week later received my grades. I've now successfully completed my first year of college! It feels great. =)
I've enjoyed sleeping in the last couple of weeks and just taking it easy. I've done a lot of reading, listening to music, watching TV, and just general chilling out. I also got a chance to the Met a couple of weeks ago and see some awesome exhibitions. "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" was a exhibition presented by the Costume Institute and the clothes were absolutely gorgeous. I also visited the American wing and saw some beautiful period rooms. I also saw "Byzantium and Islam: Age of Transition", which had some fascinating old books and artifacts from the 7th and 8th centuries. There was also a great exhibition that contained art from Picasso and Matisse collected by the Stein family in Paris. Picasso's work always fascinates me because it's so different and out of this world and yet says so much about our world.
                         From my visit:

This is perfect for just sitting and reading a good book on a lazy Sunday.

They don't make settees like this anymore. It's beautiful.

This painting is huge! It's amazing to stand right in front of it.

A book from the current German exhibition.

The Met in all of its glory.

Last week, I went to Brighton Beach with my mom to just take a relaxing walk. The weather was great and it was very peaceful.

My summer class, German Fairytales, started last week and I already love it. The professor is great and the fairytales are fascinating. I also started volunteering at a hospital. I'm really enjoying it.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! <3
